WOW… the best gamepad mapper I
TL;DR Version, Theres plenty of apps like this, ranging between fully featured and very complex to very simple yet lacking in features. This one seems to hit the warm area in the middle where its easy for users to use but isnt completely useless, with issues that are so minor it doesnt take away from the experience, 5/5. I will be recommending this to all my mac gamer friends I know.
Detailed Review, A few points I want to point out are that its simplicity it feels like an Apple UI, its clean and simple, straight to the point and doesnt overwhelm users with massive windows. However a issue I have is that if I can press the detect button to find what # the button on the controller is, why isnt there a button for the keyboard? this would be much nicer than going through a long list every time I want to bind a key. Grouping is amazing, I can have a set for Asphalt, Binding of Issac and many other games and not have them conflict. It even allows you to have different controller schemes for other joypads within those presets so that everything works nicely between controllers with different buttons as I set them up. The app detected multiple Joysticks I had lying around including my Xbox 360 controller, using the driver found on the internet. Overall the app works beyond my expectations and I feel its worth the $5 tag especially since Ive seen higher price on more complex solutions around the internet!
**This part is just me nit-picking for features and suggestions, review is over. :)**
Suggestions to the Author:
- add support for holding buttons, ex. Racing games that involve holding an acceleration button youd just press once and then let go of the button and it would remain held.
- Better support for Axis (including deadzone resrictions) would be nice too for making racing games turn really smoothly while moving the joystick.
- A button to detect Keyboard presses like you can to detect Controller button presses.
- Binding to Applications and Notifications: When an application opens, this app will detect if the default controller is plugged in and run the controls and show a notification center pop up saying the controls are enabled and which device its using with controls.
